About & Contact
Wuke Xia is a Chinese artist based in France, whose practice is rooted in the field of visual art. Through his experiences and encounters across different geographies, he has assembled a repertoire of “tools” that now underpin his creative language.
Oscillating between manual and mechanical processes, between visibility and concealment, and within the cyclical flows of Eastern and Western cultures, his work continuously explores the interplay of fragility and strength embedded in its aura.
At the heart of his artistic exploration lies a recurring reflection: things that appear fragile and transient often carry an enduring resonance. Whether working with the constructed language of cyanotype or with painting, this tension persists — threading itself through each piece beyond the boundaries of medium.
By collecting, reorganizing, and translating fragments of collective memory — shaped by the drift of time, space, and cultural displacement within art history — Wuke Xia transforms these into a new visual composition. These elements intersect with the formal aesthetics shaped by Western modernism, allowing nonlinear narratives from multiple cultural contexts to quietly converge within a single medium.
His works contemplate the generation and evolution of images, while offering an open space where viewers are invited to drift between imagination and materiality. Along the delicate border between fragility and strength, his practice constructs a finely balanced symbiosis, gently unfolding the subtle inner connections between self and world, memory and the present.
